Silken voice- that perhaps is the best attribute for Gaurav, who deploys tremendous versatility in his renditions, as his voice texture caresses the heart of the listener.

It was at a tender age of 10, when Gaurav regaled a packed audience in Delhi. From then on he opted to pursue his career in music with passion.

  • Learnt Hindustani classical music under Shri Madhup Mudgal,  Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi
  • Trained in light music under Pandit Inder Narayan Sharma

He shifted to Mumbai in 2000 and continued his training under Shri Ananth Vaidyanathan to hone his skills in developing and improving voice culture, voice modulation, breath-control and other singing techniques.

He is presently learning Hindustani classical and light music under Shri Mohinderjit Singh, a renowned music composer, singer and a violinist par excellence.

With an artfully submissive and supple throat, coupled with sheer determination and shimmering confidence of a spirited and animated teenager, Gaurav participated in HERO HONDA SAREGAMAPA on ZEE TV in 2002 and emerged victorious as the first participant to win the competition for TEN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS, a record of its kind.

His favourite singers vary from K L Saigal and Pankaj Mullick to Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi, from Begam Akhtar and Madhurani to Ghulam Ali and Mehdi Hasan and from Cliff Richard to Bryan Adams.

Gaurav feels that singing the songs of the legendary singers is in itself a riyaaz and an enriching and enlightening experience which has helped him assimilate and absorb the best in them.

On stage his sensitive renditions and affable nature wins him accolades from the audience. His repertoire encompasses vintage Hindi films songs to the contemporary, from bhajans and ghazals to folk and classical, from regional songs to western love songs.

A perfectionist by nature, he has tremendous patience, and spares no effort in complimenting the great maestros with his unique interpretations of their popular renditions.

Invariably his performances earn an encore, and his spontaneous rapport with the audience garners instant participation. He has so far performed to packed audiences of over 350 stage shows, in cities across India.

Gaurav has sung for Hindi, Tamil and Kannada films, displaying his versatility in multi lingual skills.

  • “Kathputli”         -Hindi - Music by Bapi-Tutul

As an integral part of Walt Disney’s ongoing cartoon network in Hindi, Gaurav has been singing its title tracks and perfecting western harmonies as well.

With a vision to promote the intrinsic values of world music and its boundary-less nature and to revive the forgotten forms of light classical music for the current generation, Gaurav has established his own music production house AURA.

AURA has a well planned agenda to conceptualize and create unique software in music, imbibing the best from all over the country… and the world. Concept based stage shows, Music Albums and ‘In depth’ Research on the vast ensemble of various forms of music, is the blueprint of its endeavors in the near future.
