Geetmala Kay Amar Sangeetkar For almost half a century, every Wednesday at 8 pm, an endearing voice held millions of listeners across the world spellbound with his favourite refrain “Behno aur Bhaiyo... !” THE VOICE OF RADIO AIRWAVES, Ameen Sayani. A legendary radio show that began on Radio Ceylon in 1952 that became a countdown hit parade in 1954 and later continued on All India Radio (AIR) Vividh Bharati, spanning 46 glorious years. Ameen Sayani, the voice that revolutionized radio programming in our country, described as the “Golden Voice” of India, continues to linger in the hearts of millions all over the world. His ‘dostana’ with radio began when he stepped into the AIR studios in 1939, at the tender age of seven, in 1951 he got a break with Radio Ceylon’s agency in Bombay, and through this extremely popular medium of that period, took his fans along on a melodious musical journey, the golden era of Hindi film music. His deep insight and his dialogue with the luminaries of the film and music world, remain the most precious frozen moments in time. “Geetmala Kay Amar Sangeetkaar”- A musical extravaganza is specially designed by this doyen of Radio, as a tribute to India’s great film music directors. MELODY REVIVAL & AURA recreate those nostalgic moments with Ameenji who shares his collection of rare audio and video recordings of Naushad, C.Ramchandra, Madan Mohan, Roshan, Shankar-Jaikishan, Hemant Kumar, Salil Chowdhary, S.D. Burman, O.P. Nayyar, Kalyanji, Laxmikant & R.D. Burman.
