Music is eternal, the seven basic notes never change, as the era changes, the juxtaposition of the seven notes change.

Music is universal, and yet in every region or country, it carries forward a flavor of its time and culture.

Shabd… words strung together, transform a song into a personality

What is a song without words? A lifeless body, when a few words get strung together, the song becomes a story, finding a placement in both time and space and most important, it gets the color [genre].

There are many songs that depend on words, either to take the story forward or to reveal an emotion or to express the character, every lyricist lives through the emotion or moment in time. From where does this treasure of experience originate? The answer perhaps lies in true soul searching.

Selected renditions in this segment highlight the effective use of lyrics to communicate an emotion, and draw a parallel between the old and contemporary to reflect the attitudinal change.

Swar… leverages an emotion, much beyond the written word.

When words form into lyrics they need a melody, a tune, embellished with a voice, the Raag or mood of the tune coupled with the timber of a voice communicates much beyond the alphabets or a language, written emotions get an intellectual flow which is the melody, either buoyant or sad, that melody and its rendition gives Shabd another dimension, it is the tune or Dhun which appeals to our hearts, and words become hummable .

A melody is unique in its origin, springing from a sequential arrangement of the seven notes, amazingly the juxtaposition of these notes create a million different tunes,an ambience which is instantly appealing to our hearing.

Selected renditions in this segment highlight the embellishment that the lyrics get with a melodious arrangement and the vast variety of influences that help in uplifting the melody to a higher plane.

Sangeet is the body, the string which binds the pearls of words, melody and the voice, amalgamating them into timeless songs. Music has far reaching effects on our minds, it drives our innermost feelings and brings out our real selves. For every individual, music is a sugar coated pill, a medicine and just seven notes produce magic !A melody gets the body by an arranger, whose appropriate usage of instrumentation gives a song its final shape its timelessness.

Selected renditions in this segment will be the penultimate culmination of evergreen songs that have a distinct body with the soul, a unique orchestration and the resultant melody on a grand scale.

When we present these aspects of a song, we focus on the three elements of songs, to arrive at the conclusion that a song in any era is an embodiment of the three elements in its pure form, whosoever has composed with an understanding of these three elements, has touched the hearts of the people.
